Speciality Washing Agents

3 products

Speciality washing agents cover two different needs: high-solids concentrates, and washing agents tuned to a particular fibre group. In both cases the recipe is built differently from a standard washing agent.

What does a concentrate actually save?

A concentrated washing agent does the same job with less product. The saving is not in detergency but in the water you ship and store. Fewer drums per tonne of fabric, less rack space in the dyehouse, less packaging waste.

That sets the expectation correctly. A concentrate does not clean better than a standard product; it delivers the same cleaning in a smaller volume.

How is the dosage converted?

The g/L figure from a standard product cannot simply be written against a concentrate. The conversion runs on active content and the correct number comes from the supplier. For Derin Kimya products the conversion is given on the product pages: pending from the client.

Three things get missed in practice:

  1. Dosing pumps. A dosage that falls below the pump's usable range stops being repeatable. Recalibrate when you switch to a concentrate.
  2. Pre-dilution. A viscous product fed straight into the bath is slow to distribute. Making it up in a dilution tank fixes that.
  3. Cold storage. High-solids products thicken at low temperature, and dosing lines can run short in winter.

Why is washing wool blends treated separately?

Wool felts when alkali and mechanical action rise together. Bleaching or washing conditions that count as ordinary for cotton cause an irreversible loss of handle on wool.

Washing agents formulated for wool and its blends are therefore built to work near neutral, and carry enough emulsifying power to work under low mechanical action. When the other component of the blend is synthetic a second constraint appears: conditions that are safe for the wool are weak against the spin finish on the synthetic. The product is balanced between those two limits.

When is a switch worth making?

If a standard washing agent holds the cleanliness you need, there is no reason to change. A switch makes sense when dosage on the same recipe keeps creeping up, when storage space in the dyehouse is tight, or when the fibre blend sits outside the working range of the standard product.

Products

  • DK WASH ERN

Concentrated washing agent with high active content, working at low dosage and cutting packaging and storage load.

  • DK WASH SUPRA

Concentrated washing agent: a high-solids, general-purpose formulation that can be run on every fibre group.

  • DK WASH WS-250

Washing agent for wool and wool blends, cleaning under the mild conditions that felting risk allows.

Common questions

Can I dilute the concentrate myself?

Pre-dilution for the dosing line is one thing; keeping diluted stock is another. Shelf life and phase stability of a diluted product differ from the as-supplied form, so check with the supplier before holding diluted stock for any length of time.

Does switching to a concentrate reduce effluent load?

As long as the active content going into the bath is unchanged, the organic load is unchanged too. What drops is shipped water and packaging. Effluent load falls only if the dosage itself can be reduced.

Can a wool-blend washing agent be used on pure wool?

The conditions are similar, but on pure wool the limits on mechanical action and pH are tighter. Check felting and handle on a sample before running production.
